چکیده

A new CMOS-based image sensor that is intrinsically compatible with onchip CMOS circuitry is reported. The new CMOS active pixel image sensor achieves low noise, high sensitivity, X-Y addressability, and has simple timing requirements. The image sensor was fabricated using a 2 pm p-well CMOS process, and consists of a 128 x 128 array of 40 pm x 40 pm pixels. The CMOS image sensor technology enables highly integrated smart image sensors, and makes the design, incorporation and fabrication of such sensors widely accessible to the integrated circuit community.

Ultra Low Power Imaging Systems Using Cmos Image Sensor Technology

The need for miniaturization in advanced science sensor systems has led to technology, the active pixel image sensor (APS). The development of CMOS timing and control electronics, imaging detector arrays, signal chains and the development of a ncw image sensor APS technology allows the integration of analog-to-digital conversion on a single integrated circuit. The impact on the-im;ging system i...

A Low Power Smart Vision System Based on Active Pixel Sensor Integrated with Programmable Neural Processor

A low power smart vision system based on a large format (currently IKxIK) active pixel sensor (APS) integrated with a programmable neural processor for fast vision applications is presented. The concept of building a low power smart vision system is demonstrated by a system design which is composed with an APS sensor, a smart image window handler, and a neural processor. The paper also shows th...

CMOS digital cameras need new figures of merit

C omplementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS), active-pixel-sensor (APS), digital camera-on-a-chip technology has progressed rapidly in the six or so years since it was invented by scientists at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (Pasadena, CA; see Fig. 1). While performing the same general image-capture function as its predecessor, the charge-coupled device (CCD), this highly integrated "sys...

A CMOS Image Sensor Employing a Double Junction Photodiode

A CMOS image sensor that employs a vertically integrated double junction photodiode structure is presented. This allows colour imaging with only two, wider bandwidth, filters. The sensor uses a 184 x 154 6-transistor pixel array at a 9.6 μm pitch. Results of the device characterisation, and colour image reconstruction using the prototype sensor, are presented.

3D-stacking architecture for low-noise high-speed image sensors

In this paper, architectures for low-noise high-speed image sensors based on 3D stacking technology are discussed. Effectiveness of the 3D-stacking technology for low-noise high-speed image sensors is demonstrated in an implementation of a 33Mpixel 240fps 3D-stacked CMOS image sensor based on 12b 3-stage cyclic-based pipelined ADCs. For extremely low noise and wide dynamic range imaging, highly...
